UPDATE ON MATTAMY FAIRWINDS PHASE 5

“DUDE, STAY OFF THE NET AND GO ON A VACATION‏”

I received this as an email and I assume it refers to my blog.  Well, dude, I decided to actually take a trip with the wife and we did a 2-dayer in Quebec City.  Couldn’t have had a better time.  Decent weather (sunny) and we met a lot of friendly people who showed us a great time (not friends – just Quebec citizens).  We took a walking tour and learned a lot about Quebec City history and architecture.  We were told that originally Quebec City homes, which were  mostly made with stone within the walls of Quebec City (to provide fire protection), were covered in whitewash to ensure water did not infiltrate the stonework and weaken the structure due to frost.  As an aside, Quebec City is the only walled city in North America.

Well, it is more trendy now to go “au naturelle” with the basic stone look.  Unfortunately this may signal the end of the stone houses over the next few decades.  This only emphasized how we are losing our history in places like Oakville.  Developers are buying up tracts of land, such as the downtown and will end up pushing for redevelopment probably.  There goes the history.

One developer in the north end bought up all the land and promised that a particular house would be preserved.  What happens when you leave a house vacant for an extended period of time.  It either becomes a “party house” for youthful drinkers or, the victim of an arsonist.  Either way – it is now gone.

Why don’t developers let people live (rent) in these houses until it is time to move them or utilize them in a historical manner.  Too many houses in this area have fallen victim to this type of developer care.

AND SPEAKING OF DEVELOPER CARE:  From reading this blog you will know the problems those potential Mattamy owners in the Fairwinds Phase Five area have suffered.  You will note a link to someone’s blog who was telling the story as it unfolded.  Unfortunately he had to remove the blog from the net.  Well – HE’S BAAAAAACKKKKK!!!!!.

For the story about Mattamy Homes Fairwinds Phase Five go to this link:

http://mattamyfairwindsphasefive.wordpress.com/

Why is this link important?

It doesn’t really matter who the builder is.  This blog leads you through an issue that has cost a lot of people financial grief and unnecessary stress in a home buying situation.  No matter how you slice it, Mattamy Homes sold houses and they did not have the permits to build them authorized.

Promises are not worth anything in this industry.  I mean, I was told I’d get a nice house but ………………

If anything, you should get some good information from this link so that you can ensure you don’t get shafted.  And, if a house builder is willing to do this to potential customers, you might want to reconsider hiring a house inspector to protect your investment/home.  I wish I had.

And, for the record dude, I’m staying on the net but I did enjoy your suggestion of a vacation.  It really refreshed me.
