Mattamy – quality only in the marketing???

In my last posting, I showed a couple of comments concerning Mattamy quality.  Mattamy probably has the most advertising and, with 2 page spreads, probably the most expensive.  They try to show a quality of lifestyle that will hopefully cause people to buy.  But, they may be good at marketing but when it comes to quality, they leave something to desire, according to some.

Question asked:

“Where can you buy a 2000 sqft single with double car garage and finished basement for 400K?”
Answer (with a little tongue in cheek?)
“You could have a look at the “famous” Mattamy homes.”
And the response:
“Yeah…those are bait and switch…they start off cheap then you pay 25K for a lot premium on a postage stamp size lot because it backs onto a storm water pond (ravine lot), then you have to pay a kazillion more if you want it to look anything like the model. They aren’t more or less expensive than any of the other new homes they just have better marketing
Yes, they are certainly good at the marketing – and the donations.  So, if you are going to buy a Mattamy, make sure you not only peruse the advertising and literature but also go through the forums and blogs to get a fuller view.  Donating $10 Million can get you a lot of press  and with a large advertising budget, the papers maybe don’t look at complaints that deeply.
Don’t want to bite the hand that feeds them.  Better off attacking hospitals, nurses, police etc who don’t advertise.
