Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and a better New Year than last.

I just want to take the time to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and for those that don’t participate, Happy Holidays and all the best in the upcoming year.

For those in Ottawa who expected to be in their new Mattamy homes by now, I only hope that the coming year proves to be good for you and yours and, you finally get to settle into your dream home.

But remember, although Santa can bring gifts or coal he usually makes that decision based on whether you are naughty or nice.  Mattamy, well, who knows how they make the decision on who gets the nice home and flowers and those that get the “dream house from hell”.

Since you can’t depend on Santa or the coal-bearing Mattamy “I promised you a rose garden but can’t produce crowd”,  I strongly suggest you take the plunge and get a house inspector to ensure you don’t keep having memories of a very bad house closing.  Almost like the bad recycled Christmas gift or the ghosts of Christmas past.

You’ve seen in my blog that getting a perfect Mattamy house and resulting good service is a crap shoot and you can’t trust your local municipal inspector to look after your interests so, make sure your next Christmas in a new house is in comfort and you don’t have to stress out on less than deserved quality.  When you are trying to decided on upgrades worth thousands, the cost of a house inspector is very reasonable and gives you protection like insurance.

Mr. Gilgan and Mattamy is able to make large donations to various worthwhile projects and certainly helps the Christmas spirit.  Remember, those donations are made possible by your buying homes from them.  The only problem is that extra money can be found to donate through savings on the construction of your home, illegally wiring furnaces to allow sales and, maybe less than spectacular after-sale service (wish I could tell you about that).

So, while they bask in media reporting of their good deeds, you are living a less than ideal life in your new home.

I know, I’ve been there.

Take care all and I think I will sit back and count my few blessings for a few days instead of thinking of the Mattamy coal elves.
