Oakville Homes

It’s on the street………..

Well, I’m not one to start a rumour but, this one needs to be brought forward and discussed.  Word has it that former Mayor of Oakville, Ann Mulvale is going to throw her hat back into the ring for our next Mayoral contest in Oakville (November 8th, 2010).  We understand the preliminary work has begun in strengthening her position.  Correct me if I am wrong.

Affectionately known as “Asphalt Annie” in some circles, I bet Mattamy et al wish they had more than 30 days to work out the Development Charges in Halton so they could get their friend elected and thus have all the chickens in a row for a vote.

Right now we are seeing a battle to ensure the taxpayer doesn’t pay for development in Halton and, Oakville Mayor Rob Burton, along with Halton Regional Chair Gary Carr have shown some backbone and spearheaded a move to ensure the taxpayer doesn’t get the short end of the stick in terms of development.  I am sure that the war chests of those opposing this move will be filled with the usual political donations by the development community to help defeat these troublemakers in 2010.

Mulvale has already shown her ideas in terms of supporting MattamyMattamy gets to install illegal wiring and put children’s lives at risk without any fear of enforcement.  Illegal landscaping in Milton with soil contaminated with human waste compared to Mattamy being charged in Ottawa with illegal dumping.

I leave you all to contemplate what it will be like if we return to “Development Hell”.

  1. This is not true at all. These are false rumours that have no truth. Rob Burton has increased the towns debt 206% since he has been in office, and this does not include the cost of the new hospital. Ann is not associated with Mattamy Homes at all.

Rob Burton has also hired his friends to work for the town. He hired his campaign manager to be the Chief of Staff for Oakville. This new position pays six figures and is only accountable to the mayor. He is not accountable to the people who voted. How is that spending taxpayers money effectively?

Rob has allowed Mattamy to continue developement and done nothing to deter it.

  2. I won’t go into the debt arguement except to say that the taxes were kept at the same level for 4 years. Ann “not associated with Mattamy Homes”!!! It was her that approached Mattamy Homes to donate money to Wellspring while supposedly dealing with my complaint against Mattamy concerning illegal (code) wiring that endangered my children. I believe she also started the Mayors Softball Invitational with Mattamy as a sponsor.
Go to my October 12th blog for a photo of her and Peter Gilgan (Mattamy Homes). I’d say that is an “association”.

You cannot stop development (I’m not arguing for that) but Rob did support making the developers pay their share of the infrastructure through development charges, something Ann did not really push for. If she gets re-elected, it will be interesting to see how she gets this put away. Don’t know anything about the Chief of Staff hiring except to say maybe he wanted someone at the Town he could trust. Don’t forget, he was the new guy on the block and Ann had had time to put her people in place over 10 years……
